Cynthia M. Stinson joined Christian Services for Children in Alabama (CSCA) in 1991 when it was being organized to provide services to youth who required out-of-home care. In conjunction with CSCA’s parent organization, the National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) (currently Disciples Benevolent Services) and CSCA’s local board of directors, a partnership with the State Department of Human Resources (SDHR) was established. In the intervening years, Stinson has been particularly influential in the agency’s leadership toward building collaborative relationships and contractual agreements in its provision of Family Preservation Services and Therapeutic Foster Care.
Stinson had more than 10 years of experience in the field of child and family services and mental health counseling before joining CSCA as a therapeutic foster care program coordinator. She now serves as CSCA’s Chief Executive Officer. Through numerous collaborative efforts with the SDHR, Stinson has played a major role in the provision of services to children and their families who, due to abuse and neglect, have come to the attention of the State of Alabama. Because of Stinson’s expert oversight of both the programmatic and administrative functions of CSCA, the children and families can be assured that they receive the highest level of care possible.
Stinson obtained a bachelor’s degree in child and family development from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She was certified in 1990 as a licensed clinical social worker. Stinson also has extensive training in the areas of family preservation, foster care development, supervision, fundraising and board development. |
